Ramos Pinto 20 Year Old Port

Tasting Profile: Ramos Pinto 20 year Old Tawny is a fortified port wine that offers fruity aromas of grapefruit and apricot, as well as nuts like almonds or hazelnuts, accompanied by cocoa nuances and aging aromas of vanilla, toast, caramel and spices. On the palate it has a fine entrance, expressing its complexity of flavours with persistent fruits accompanied by notes of ripe and dried nuts. It is an elegant and persistent wine with a touch of liquorice on the finish.

Grape: Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Touriga Franca.

Serving Tips: The wine benefits from being served between 12ºC to 16ºC. It is ready for drinking and does not require decanting. Once open, it should be consumed within 2-3 months. Delicious as an aperitif or following an evening meal. It can also accompany chocolate, cheeses and cream-based desserts or desserts that are not overly sweet. It goes very well with dry fruit and nuts, nut cakes and Swiss rolls.

Winemaking: Ramos Pinto 20-Year-Old Tawny is produced by the traditional Port method. The hand-picked grapes are destemmed and crushed before fermentation at controlled temperatures, with skin maceration to extract tannin, colour and flavour. The addition of grape spirit at the ideal moment sets the balance between the wine's sweetness and bouquet. The moment of fortification is chosen by the winemaker following strict control of fermentation temperatures and densities according to the vine variety, maturation stage and the final sweetness required. After the harvest, the wines remain in the Douro until the following spring, when they are taken to Vila Nova de Gaia and enter Ramos Pinto lodges for ageing in oak wood casks. The final blend results from a selection of wines between 9 and 24 years of age, composed to maintain the consistency and character of this Ramos Pinto 20-Year-Old Tawny Port.
