Koonunga Hill Chardonnay 2022 (Penfolds)

Taste Profile: A pale straw colour with lime green hues. Instant white peach, stone fruit flavours abound ensued by a lovely array of florals –orange blossom and jasmine. Fresh and pure with a light creaminess arising from time spent in French oak. Stone fruits persist alongside fresh citrus and green apple with just a splashing of honey suckle. Fine and pure with a subtle and soft oak influence, finishing with a long, mineral acid structure that gives great length of flavour.

Grape: 100% Chardonnay.

Serving Tips: Serve at 8 - 12°C, good on its own as an aperitif or pairs well with light rice or vegetable dishes.

Winemaking: This white wine is sourced from multiple regions and vineyards of the Chardonnay variety, predominantly from the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills. These vines are respectfully cultivated and harvested, and selected exclusively by hand with the aim of achieving a selection of the best batches of fruit. Then, in the winery, the grapes are fermented in French oak barrels. Once fermentation has finished, the wine spends 6 months in French oak and stainless steel tanks and ages on fine lees. It is then bottled to preserve its freshness and minerality.
